Gate 52: The Gate of Inaction
This gate is characterized by stillness. Your quiet grandeur inspires admiration and respect. Situated as you are at the very top of the hill, you have the advantage of being able to see everything happening below, and that keeps you from interfering when there is no real need. The solutions you come up with would never occur to anyone else simply because they can’t see properly from where they are. As a result, you can be stubborn and uncooperative, and even then, you are rewarded with clarity of thought. You decide for yourself when to sit back and watch, and when to get involved. Before you go into action, however, you must determine your goal and intended course of action. Once you have done so, nothing can knock you off course. Waning concentration leads to tension, anxiety, and irritability, so try to remain calm and focussed come what may.
