The Projector’s Not Self: Waiting for Acclaim
Projectors are gifted with the ability to identify talent in others and direct it in the right direction. They have no trouble discerning potential and helping to foster it. Projectors can act only when others want them to, though. In other words, the need for help must first be acknowledged, and they must be invited. When that happens, Projectors can comfortably give full play to their ability. By imposing themselves on others or trying to be as active as Generators or Manifestors, Projectors inevitably activate the Not Self, which is bitterness. Bitterness fills the Projector who has come to an awareness of their own weakness and the fact that they simply fall short in certain areas. Their hopes of being the best at something are dashed. Projectors must learn to accept that they are not the same as others and must come to see their role in society from a different perspective. They can avoid a sense of bitterness by looking at things from the perspective of those who help participants endure their trials instead of as a participant proper. Projectors should avoid meddling with unsolicited advice in an attempt to convince everyone they’re doing everything wrong and that only they themselves know how to do it the right way. Such behavior will meet with resistance and cause others to close themselves off to the interloping Projector.
